Our Story
The Aeroplane Art Company was formed by John Stewart-Jones and Bronwyn Hicks in 1994. It was formed principally to promote the artworks of selected Australian artists. The Aeroplane Art Company has published an expansive collection of black & white and colour prints and is continually adding to this collection.
Meet the Arists
John Stewart-Jones
John has worked in the aircraft industry for over 50 years. As a design draughtsman John has worked for many large U.K. and Australian aircraft companies. He has worked on the initial design of aircraft such as the TSR 2, Hawker Siddley HS 125, GAF 'Nomad', AAC 'Wamira', McDonnell Douglas MD 900 Explorer and the anti-submarine 'Ikara' Missile.
John is a recognised Flight Test Observer and a pilot with over 3,900 hours experience on single and twin engined aircraft. He is also an accomplished aerobatic pilot and has instructed advanced aerobatics on the Pitts Special.
Because of his drafting background, John is able to use pencil and charcoal drawing to great effect.
Colin Parker
Colin completed an Engineering apprenticeship in the early 1960's at 'deHavillands' in the United Kingdom. He went on to become Senior Illustrator at 'Rolls Royce', Leavesden UK, and was responsible for creating many of the marvellous full colour cutaways of the engines designed and built by the company.
In search of a better life, Colin emigrated to Australia. He was the Chief Illustrator at 'Hawker de Havilland Ltd.' Bankstown Australia. He was responsible for the production of artwork associated with promoting the company world wide, the production of Technical Manuals and all other specialised illustrations.
Colin is a member of the 'Australian Society of Aviation Artists' (ASAA) & Artist Friend of the 'Guild of Aviation Artists' of The United Kingdom.
In 2008, Colin experienced a Sea Change and moved to Queensland's Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Colin is in high demand for commission work. Apart from cutaway drawings, he has produced many excellent acrylic and oil paintings.
