All these photographs were taken by Arthur Harding,
kindly loaned by his nephew Bob Harding.
This aircraft was used by HRH the Duke of Glouster for his visit to the Island.
We think the aircraft's name was Endevour
Note the white areas under the wing & the Japanese calligraphy.
We believe the message is that the war has ended & for the Japanese to surrender.
A very rare photograph. Anybody who can translate the message please let us know.
These ore From the Royal New Zealand Air Force
Another extremely rare photograph of an actual surrender.
Note the particular colour scheme required for surrendering aircraft.
